Three thousand needy families with many children received food packages in the holy month of Ramadan in the Karaganda region. Such support was provided by the Kazakhmys Corporation in the framework of the charity event "El Tiregi-Elbasy", organized by the “Halyk” Foundation.
The charity event is aimed at helping large families who have faced financial difficulties due to the pandemic and the quarantine measures associated with it.
On April 23, Kazakhmys Corporation joined this campaign. Those in need were given fifty-kilogram food baskets, which include basic necessities: rice, buckwheat, flour, pasta, vegetable oil, stew, sugar, tea and sweets.
One of the recipients of the food basket in Karaganda was 25-year-old Alyona Sivtsova. A woman alone brings up four children. The oldest child is 7 years old, and the youngest is only 3 years old. She also has a 10-year-old younger brother in her care.
"Because of the age of the children, I can't go to work yet. We live on funds from targeted social assistance. For four people, I get 64 thousand tenge. Sometimes this money is only enough for half a month, then I have to borrow food in the store. When I have money, I try to treat my children with sweets so that they do not feel deprived. But the products are very expensive. Sometimes we just eat bread and pasta. Therefore, we are very grateful for the attention and care of the foundation and the Kazakhmys Corporation. These products will last us for a long time, " - said the mother of many children.
Gulnisa Altynbayeva also raises children alone. She has three of them. A woman works in a pastry shop. But all of her salary goes to rent housing.
"It so happened that my husband and I divorced. He's not helping us. I have three sons. They are 13,11 and 6 years old. I work, but my salary is only 42500. They receive targeted social assistance. That's what we live on. When I was told that they would bring a grocery set, I did not really believe it. No one has ever helped us before. After receiving three boxes of food, I almost shed tears. Thank you to the management of the company "Kazakhmys", the foundation and the volunteers. Let their good deeds come back to them doubly, " says Gulnisa Altynbekova.
"The campaign" El Tiregi-Elbasy " started on March 17 in all regions of our country. We joined it on April 23 and allocated 73.8 million tenge for the purchase of food baskets. The lists of families in need are provided by the regional akimat. Support of socially vulnerable groups of the population is an important direction for our company. Such actions will be supported in the future, " Kazakhmys Corporation noted.
The Halyk Charitable Foundation plans to hold the event repeatedly throughout the year and encourages representatives of the business community and other charitable organizations to join. To date, the fund and business have financed the purchase of more than 38 thousand food packages throughout the country.
