In honor of anniversary of the Victory in 2015, Kazakhmys started the large-scale tree planting project in Zhezkazgan. The park located on Pervostroiteley square added the groove on the shore of the reservoir Kengir near the Monument of Glory.
The Project of Zhasyl Zhelek includes several stages and is established for 5 years. The goal of the project is to establish green zone on territory of 100 hectares.
At the first stage in an area of nearly three hectares were planted of about two and a half thousand seedlings, mostly - elm and silver poplar. In October, the second stage of planting trees, there were still 2600 elm seedlings or elm, maple and poplar.
98 hectares of near shore had been cleaned in advanced, the large amount of garbage and dead wood transported out by trucks.
Planting and subsequent care after the young trees were entrusted to employees of North- Zhezkazgan Mine, East- Zhezkazgan Mine and South- Zhezkazgan Mine, transferred to lighter work.
In total, more than two thousand young trees of English elm and white poplar have been planted at the period of April 15th to September 30th. Whole summer the employees took care of young trees. Enterprises of Kazakhmys made irrigation containers and purchased hoses and pumps. The second stage of trees planting was conducted in October, totally had been plant another 2600 of young trees of English elm, maple and poplar.
On spring it is planned to continue planting of water storage shoreline, which is called blue pearl of Zhezkazgan. The appearance of such project is very important and valuable for the ecology of industrial and arid region. Thanks to initiative of Kazakhmys, the beautiful green park appeared on wasteland, which will grow year to year.
